Saida Jezzine Irrigation Project

 

  • Amongst the first Litani irrigation projects
  • Partially accomplished in 1969
  • It extends from the the Awali River in the north to the Sineeq River in the south, crossing the outskirts of Sidon to the inferior part of the Anan Lake to the east (600 meters above sea level).
  • It currently irrigates 381 hectares and is projected to irrigate 1,200 hectares upon completion.

 

  • The project was equipped with modern irrigation systems of 42 km of length and 11 pressure vacuum breakers for the distribution of irrigation water to the lands.
  • The project water is also used to provide additional drinking water to the Kfarfalous compound.
  • The Authority also established within the project a test field in the village of Lebaa in order to conduct experiments on a number of agricultural varieties suitable for the climatic conditions prevailing in the region, especially vines, olive groves, apple trees and flowers.
